What is the 2450-CAL-KIT?

질문:

What is the 2450-CAL-KIT?

답변:

The 2450-CAL-KIT, or 2450 Calibration Fixture, is a required accessory for calibrating the 2450 SMU. It is a simple accessory that adds a known capacitance between FORCE HI and CHASSIS GROUND during certain calibration procedures. Here is a circuit diagram of the fixture. The diagram omits the metal shield that surrounds the capacitor to which the triax lug outermost conductors are connected, and to which safety ground is connected.

A circuit diagram showing 2 triax cables connected with a 1nF capacitor between the center and outermost conductors.

The capacitor must be rated to >200V and should be nominal 1.00nF, 2.5% tolerance is suggested, and the final capacitance between the shell/chassis of the 2450 and the HI/Input connector of the 6430 should be between 0.80nF and 1.20nF. The capacitor should be enclosed in a conductive metal box tied to the Shield/Chassis connections of the lugs and further connected to a safety ground.

Here is an internal view of a completed 2450-CAL-KIT with 6430 In/Out/Male Triax Lug (Tek P/N CS-1514-2) and 2450 FORCE HI/Female Triax lug (Tek P/N CS-630).

Warning

The test fixture should be independently connected to a known good safety ground.  Failure to do so may result in personal injury or death due to electric shock

Warning

The power cord supplied with the 2450 contains a dedicated protective safety ground wire for use with grounded outlets. When proper connections are made, the instrument chassis is connected to ground through the ground wire in the power cord. Not using a properly constructed power cord and grounded outlet may result in personal injury or death due to electric shock.

Warning

Hazardous voltages may be present on all output and guard terminals. To prevent electrical shock that could cause injury or death, never make or break connections to the 2450 while the instrument is powered on. Turn off the equipment from the front panel or disconnect the main power cord from the rear of the 2450 before handling cables. Putting the equipment into standby does not guarantee that the outputs are powered off if a hardware or software fault occurs.
