The 5-pin Dual adapters (A1006, A1007, A1008, and A1009) were equipped with jumpers that allowed the emitter pin(s) of the right hand (or bottom) socket(s) to be connected to the adapter's emitter terminal.
Another use of the jumper was to short the base and collector terminals of either socket for applications such as gathering data for the Gummel-Poon model which deals with ib vs vbe with vbc = 0. The jumper shorted the base to the collector to achieve vbc = 0

The 371A was shipped standard with the A1002 and A1003.
