Can I download waveform data and screenshots to my computer by using HyperTerminal?

Question :

Can I download waveform data and screenshots to my computer by using HyperTerminal?

Réponses :

Yes you can. Use the first procedure to get waveform data, and the second to get a screenshot.

For both Waveform data and screenshots, setup Hyperterm for communication. If you want to see the characters you type in the window (recommended), then you will first need to check the box next to "Echo typed characters locally" in Properties>Settings tab>ASCII setup before typing anything.

Before starting either procedure, type *IDN? to make sure you are communicating with the scope. The response from a *IDN? should look something like:
TEKTRONIX,CSA7404B,B010017,CF:91.1CT FV:4.0.4

To get Waveform data using Hyperterm:
1. Go to the Transfer menu>Capture Text
2. Enter a filepath and filename into the box, e.g. C:\data.txt
3. type DATA:ENCDG ASCII and press enter
4. type CURVE? and press enter
5. When the transfer stops, go to Transfer>Capture Text>Stop
6. Your waveform will be in the data.txt file

What this procedure does:
We are using the Hyperterm logging function to log the data that is captured into hyperterm's screen into a file. In this case, we send it to a text file, because we are saving waveform data in ASCII format.

To get a screenshot
1. Type HARDCOPY:FORMAT PCX
2. Type HARDCOPY:PORT RS232
3. Go to the Transfer menu>Capture Text
4. Enter a filepath and filename into the box, e.g. C:\screenshot.pcx
5. Press the Print button located ON THE SCOPE or Type HARDCOPY START
6. When the transfer stops, go to Transfer>Capture Text>Stop
7. Your waveform will be in the screenshot.pcx file and can be opened with any Windows Graphics tool

What this procedure does:
We are using the Hyperterm logging function to log the screenshot that is captured into Hyperterm's screen into a file. In this case, we send it to a pcx file, because we are saving a pcx screenshot. When you watch the screen, you will see strange characters on the screen, because you are watching the binary data stream onto Hyperterm's screen.
