I have the P6015A probe without option 1R+ Probe Readout. Now I have a scope that will apply the 1000X attenuation factor automatically if the probe had that feature. Can it be added?

Yes, the BNC connector on the probe compensation box can be unsoldered, unscrewed, and replaced with the Tektronix part number 131-5320-00. All probe coding logic is contained in the new connector.
