Question :
For the 8200-series oscilloscopes+ what is horizontal resolution and how do I determine what it is?
Answer :
Horizontal resolution, (also referred to as sample interval) is the period of time between two sample points. Horizontal resolution can be calculated with the following equation: (10 X Time/Div)/record length.
The horizontal resolution of a particular setting can be viewed in the horizontal menu, under Setup. As the time/div setting, or record length is changed, the horizontal resolution changes accordingly.
In addition, the horizontal resolution can be changed using the resolution knob (in the horizontal section) on the front panel. As the resolution knob is turned, two things happen. One a small window will pop up showing the horizontal resolution. Second, the record length will change. However, the Time/Div setting will NOT change
