What errors are reported on the WFM601M?

The WFM601M implements the following things relating to SMPTE RP165:

It receives any previously embedded EDH packet (it reports the EDH packet as either VALID or MISSING), extracts the active time and full field (less the reserved packet time) checksums. It calculates fresh checksums, and compares the newly calculated checksums with those embedded in the incoming video. If the calculated and received packets are different, an error is reported. The WFM601M reports an error by lighting the alarm lamp, and by incrementing the seconds counter on the STATUS screen. The seconds counter tracks the number of seconds in which any error is reported, but does not report the number of errors during the errored seconds. Also, whenever the alarm lamp lights, a TTL contact closure is made to the rear panel remote connector, which can then be logged by a remote computer.

The WFM601M also displays the F1 AP checksum and F2 AP checksum on the STATUS screen so the operator may mentally trace a test signal through his system, even without the EDH packet for comparison.
