2400 Graphical Series SMU
Keithley 2400 Graphical Series SMU instruments offer four-quadrant precision voltage and current source/load coupled with measurement now on an intuitive touchscreen user interface. These instruments can simultaneously source and measure current from 10 fA to 10 A pulse and/or voltage from 100 nV to 1100 V for 1000 W pulse and 100 W DC total power, allowing users to Touch, Test, Invent®.

High Speed Testing of High Brightness LEDs
Use a SMU instrument's unique pulsing, voltage, or current capabilities to minimize self-heating on HBLEDs and reduce the negative impact on measurement accuracy, as well as to eliminate the worries about damaging the device under test.

IV Characterization of Power Semiconductors
Testing plays an important role at every stage of the development of SiC and GaN semiconductor devices, to characterize, benchmark, and document efficiency and other characteristics. It begins with testing the material to determine whether it is suitable for use. Once the device is fabricated, such as a MOSFET, breakdown voltage, leakage current, and OFF-state resistance testing must be done before it is installed on a circuit board.

Chacterizing and Validating Sensor Performance
SMU instruments are the most accurate, reliable, and convenient way to characterize and validate sensors and transducers that can generate and measure ultra-low and low voltage or current signal during sleep and active states of operation. SMUs offer the widest operating range, sensivity, speed and accuracy to minimize false readings and test with confidence.

Rechargeable Battery Charge/Discharge (Galvanic) Cycling
Chemical engineers, chemists, and other scientists use electrical measurement techniques to study chemical reactions and dynamics. The most commonly-used measurement technique, cyclic voltammetry (CV,) is typically performed using a potentiostat. Keithley’s graphical SMUs are a high accuracy, lower cost alternative for e-chemistry labs – to perform cyclic voltammetry and other electrochemistry tests.

Creating Battery Discharge Models and Simulating Batteries
A graphical SMU Instrument can discharge a battery and create a model of the battery for use with a battery simulator. The model consists of both open circuit voltage and internal resistance as a function of the battery's state of charge. The battery simulator will then emulate the battery using the created battery model and can be used under various testing conditions to see how the product performs when powered by a battery under various conditions of discharge.

I-V Characterization of Photovoltaic Cells
I-V characteristics of solar cells and panels can easily be generated using a Keithley Model 2450 or Model 2460 SourceMeter SMU Instrument, which can source and measure both current and voltage. Because both SourceMeter instruments have four quadrant source capability, they can sink the cell current as a function of an applied voltage.

Battery Simulator App in KickStart
The KickStart Battery Simulator App gives users a simple method to create, manage, and simulate battery models along with the ability to cycle test batteries. This optional specialty application for KickStart software is designed for use with Keithley’s 2281S Power Supply/Battery Simulator for simulating battery models, the Keithley 2380 DC Electronic Load for battery model generation, and the Keithley 2400 Graphical Series and 2600A/B Series SMUs (channel A only) for battery model generation, battery simulation, and battery charge/discharge cycle testing.
The Battery Simulator App includes:

Keithley I-V Tracer Software
Adding the I-V Tracer to your Graphical SourceMeter gives you a dedicated user interface which recreates the familiar user experience of a curve tracer for two-terminal devices. With a range of compatible instruments, I-V Tracer can utilize the full capabilities of each source measure unit, including the dual high-speed digitizers of the 2461 to perform tracing with AC polarity and pulsed DC, in addition to standard DC polarity.
